Where Were The Shootings In Your Neighborhood?

For every front-page story about gun violence in America -- including the rampage in Colorado Springs in November -- there are many more that go relatively unnoticed by the media.

Now though, news publications Slate and the Trace have teamed up to track and present every homicide, attempted murder, assault, self-defense shooting and accident that involved a gun in the last year. It draws on the Gun Violence Archive, which collects data from law enforcement sites and news outlets, to present the data well before the federal government releases its own statistics.
