The new toll lane on Interstate 70 in the mountains west of Denver will open this weekend.
Drivers with an ExpressToll account will pay $3 to $30 to use the 13-mile lane from Empire to Idaho Springs. Those without a pass could pay up to $40 during peak times.
"CDOT will continue to work to educate drivers in how to use the lane and to adjust the toll prices accordingly to provide a reliable travel time," said Shailen Bhatt, the Colorado Department of Transportation's executive director.
The toll lane will be usable only during peak travel times -- holidays and weekends. The lane will be a shoulder at all other times.
