· Dec. 31, 2015, 1:27 pm

The U.S. Forest Service has decided against requiring ski resorts to transfer water rights to the federal government in order to operate on public land.

The Denver Post reports the agency issued its final decision Wednesday, abandoning the proposal that ski area water rights must be transferred. Ski resorts will now only have to prove there is enough water to support skiing for the duration of their permit.
