Long shadows in a quiet stockyard at the end of opening day at the 2016 National Western Stock Show.

And the Junior Livestock Auction had a record year too, raising $886,250, enough revenue to fund some 80 scholarships throughout Colorado and Wyoming for students studying in the fields of agriculture and rural medicine.

Paul Andrews, CEO of the National Western, called the high attendance, "a tribute to rodeo and stock show fans across the nation.”
