Tegan Wendland joined CPR News as climate solutions editor in May of 2025.
Professional Background:
Tegan brings over a decade of environmental and public media journalism experience to CPR. She previously led the Mississippi River Basin Ag & Water Desk, where she served as editorial director from 2021-2025, editing 20+ journalists covering agriculture and the environment from the headwaters to the delta of the Mississippi River. Before that, she served as news director and coastal reporter at New Orleans Public Radio for eight years. Her work has aired on Planet Money, Here and Now, Reveal, Science Friday, Marketplace, All Things Considered, Morning Edition, the BBC and the CBC, among others.
Awards:
Tegan's reporting and stories she has edited have won numerous prestigious local, regional and national awards including Murrows, PMJAs, Green Eyeshade, Covering Climate Now, NLGJA, NAAJ and others. She also received a Pulitzer grant to collaboratively report a series on water management in the Netherlands with the Times-Picayune, and covered the COP 15 talks in Paris in 2015.
Education:
Tegan holds an M.S. in Science Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and two bachelor's of science in political science and journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
