Manon Lescaut-a young beautiful woman- arrives in Paris preparing for a life of service at a convent. The young Des Grieux catches sight of her. They instantly fall in love, abandon their plans, and flee together. Des Grieux dreams of a simple life together outside of Paris, but greed and love collide inside Manon’s heart. She abandons the young man. The devastated lover vows to serve God as a priest, but she returns to him and both flee again together. Her greed leads the couple to tragedy and there is no time left for them.
