The Colorado College Concert Band, under the direction of Jeremy Van Hoy, presents its fall semester concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Celeste Theatre, Cornerstone Arts Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

The concert theme is “Jewels of South American Music” and features visiting artist Peter Steiner, trombone, performing the world premiere of the wind ensemble version of Dimitri Cervo’s Trombone Concerto. The upbeat program also includes Latin standards arranged for concert band – Ary Barroso’s “Brazil,” Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” and Antônio Carlos Jobim’s “Wave” – and modern compositions by South American composers or inspired by Latin American music – “El Mono,” by Victoriano Valencia, “Carnaval!” by Julie Giroux, and Van Hoy’s arrangement of “Rio” by Hey Marseilles.
