The Colorado College Summer Music Festival presents a Faculty Artists Concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10 in Packard Hall. These concerts feature our professional musician Festival faculty performing a wide array of chamber music.

The June 10 concert opens with Lovelock’s Trio for trumpet, horn, and piano, performed by Kevin Cobb, trumpet; Michael Thornton, horn; Susan Grace, piano. Next on the program is Bowen’s Fantasia (Fantasie Quartet) in E minor for four violas, featuring Toby Appel, Phillip Ying, Virginia Barron, and a Festival fellow to be selected. Grace then returns with Steven Beck, piano, for Britten’s Gemini Variations for violin, flute and piano four hands, along with Laura Frautschi, violin, and Alice Dade, flute. Next is Beck and John Rojak, bass trombone, with Adagio from Shostakovich’s The Limpid Stream. Closing the program is Schoenfield’s Café Music, performed by Beck, Mark Fewer, violin, and David Ying, cello.

Single tickets for Festival Artists Concerts are $35 for the general public, $30 for Festival donors, and $5 for children and students. Season tickets to all five Festival Artists Concerts presented in June are $160 for the general public and $140 for donors. Season tickets to all seven Festival concerts (five Festival Artists and two Festival Orchestra) are the best value for music lovers at $200 for the general public, $175 for donors, and $150 for first-time ticket subscribers. Tickets are free for current Colorado College students, faculty, and staff with their Gold Cards.

Now in its 39th season, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival provides the highest caliber, inclusive educational experience for pre-professional musicians, connecting them with preeminent performance faculty as they prepare to launch rewarding careers, while simultaneously providing vibrant and diverse concerts celebrating legacy, contemporary, and underrepresented classical music – thereby enriching the community of the Pikes Peak region.
