Event Description

As part of the Colorado Springs Sesquicentennial celebration, photographer Mike Pach recreated historic images from the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the Pikes Peak Library District collections and other archives. Fifty of those photographs along with Mike’s own modern interpretations will be on display.

Program Description:
Artist Mike Pach will open his Then and Now exhibit as a part of the Colorado Springs Sesquicentennial. At 6pm, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, PPLD Chief Librarian and CEO John Spears, and Pioneers Museum Curator Matt Mayberry will deliver opening remarks. A short documentary about making the Then and Now project by Jamey Hastings of You May Clap Productions and a music video by Marcelle will be debuted. Afterwards patrons can explore the newly installed exhibit and preview Mike’s soon-to-be-released book.

Artist bio:
Mike Pach was born in Chicago in 1967. He moved to St. Louis in 1989 after earning a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Parks College of St. Louis University.
He fell in love with the mountains and photography on his first visit to Colorado in 1984 during a five-day backpacking trip with a borrowed camera. He spent two summers in college working as a backcountry guide for Meet the Wilderness, the same organization that hosted his backpacking trip.
Pach moved to Pueblo in 1996 to fulfill his dream of living in Colorado and then moved to Colorado Springs in 2002. He started his first photography-related business in 2000 after his engineering career ended, and opened 3 Peaks Photography & Design in 2009.
Pach is an award-winning, internationally recognized photographer and speaker known for his 365-day project “Same Tree, Different Day.” He founded and leads the Colorado Photography Learning Group.
