Event Description

The Colorado College Department of Music presents Jerilyn Jorgensen, violin, and Cullan Bryant, piano, in a faculty recital beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in Packard Hall.

The concert is free and open to the general public.

The program opens with Franz Schubert’s Sonatina in A minor, D. 385, followed by Olivier Messiaen’s Fantaisie and Benjamin Britten’s Suite, Op. 6. After an intermission, the concert concludes with Robert Schumann’s Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Op. 121.

Jorgensen is a member of the studio faculty at CC. She holds Bachelor of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Julliard School, and a Master of Music degree from Julliard. Between 1980 and 2004, she was first violinist of the Da Vinci Quartet, and as a member of that ensemble she performed throughout the United States, was a prizewinner in the Shostakovich International String Quartet Competition, was a finalist in the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, and appeared on PBS's NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.

Jorgensen’s recordings appear on the Naxos label. Her performances with the quartet have been praised as "…abundant in feeling and fire" (Milwaukee Journal), "taut, confident playing, brimming with thrust and color" (Los Angeles Times), and as exhibiting "ease, authority, and thoroughgoing excellence" (San Francisco Chronicle).
