The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra will present an evening of big band music arranged by, inspired by or composed by the amazing Quincy Jones.

Quincy Delight Jones Jr., often referred to as Quincy Jones, was a renowned American musical performer, producer, arranger, and composer whose work spanned virtually all forms of popular music. Born on March 14, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, he began his musical journey at a young age, playing in various bands as a trumpeter and arranger.

Jones’s career took off in the 1950s when he started writing arrangements for notable artists such as Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Ray Charles. Jones was also a prolific film composer, having composed scores for over 30 major motion pictures. He won 26 Grammy Awards and was nominated 76 times, setting a record for the most Grammy nominations in history. He was also named a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2001 and authored an autobiography titled “Q: The Autobiography of Quincy Jones.”
