Denver’s Flobots Take A ‘Detour’ From Traditional Touring

The Denver hip-hop group Flobots is trying to do something ambitious: to change the way we think about music tours. Nowadays, musicians tour primarily to hawk albums or sell out stadiums. But a new pilot project headed by Colorado Creative Industries is intended to make music less of a commodity and more of a means to build relationships with the community. It's called "Detour."

Rapper Stephen "Brer Rabbit" Brackett and Jesse Elliot of the Denver indie band Ark Life -- who's along for the ride -- spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
