Colorado Hits Top 10 for AP Exam Scores

· Feb. 27, 2013, 7:01 am

Colorado student participation in Advanced Placement exams is increasing. KRCC’s Martha Perez-Sanz reports that scores are also on the rise.

The College Board’s annual AP Report to the Nation says Colorado ranks ninth for the percentage of students scoring a three or higher on standardized AP exams. 2012 is also Colorado’s sixth year in the top 10.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports area high schools Widefield, Mesa Ridge, and Fountain-Fort Carson, are responsible for more than 1% of the schools in Colorado offering the tests, but accounted for 19% of the growth in scores statewide.

Participation among Colorado high school graduates increased by over 1,000 students from 2011 to 2012.
