Outlook For Colorado’s Rural Economy Still Sluggish

Creighton University's Rural Main Street Index reports that Colorado's's rural economy improved slightly last month from April. But rural areas struggled for economic growth for the fifth consecutive month. And that's likely to continue for another quarter of this year.

The index for “Farmland and ranch land prices” in Colorado plunged in May, contributing to the weak forecast. The outlook for hiring fell as well. The report covers 9 other Midwest and western states in addition to Colorado.
