It's been a busy awards season around KRCC, as the News Department and Wish We Were Here have picked up numerous awards for work completed in calendar year 2015.
The Radio Television Digital News Association, or RTDNA, has recognized KRCC News Director Andrea Chalfin with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in journalism. The award comes in the "Writing" category for her story "Southwest Chief Efforts Receive $15.2 Million Federal Boost." This is the second year the News Department's work covering the Southwest Chief has garnered a Murrow Award. Region 3 consists of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
The Associated Press Television Radio Association (APTRA) has recognized Chalfin for the same story in the "Best News Writing" category. The organization has also awarded Wish We Were Here with "Best Special Program." KRCC competes against broadcast stations in the west, including stations in California, Washington, and Oregon.
In March, the Colorado Broadcasters Association awarded Wish We Were Here with an Award of Excellence for their episode, "After the Evangelical Vatican."
Congratulations to KRCC News Director Andrea Chalfin and Wish We Were Here producers Noel Black and Jake Brownell!
