In an interview with Colorado Matters, Hickenlooper was playful as he deferred all questions to the Clinton campaign.

“I know it’s bitter, but I think you’re going to have to wait a few more days. I apologize,” he said, finishing with a chuckle.

Clinton is expected to announce her pick Friday. Hickenlooper is among a handful of names reportedly under consideration.

Clinton met with Hickenlooper and a few other candidates at her Washington D.C. home last week.

A few things going for Hickenlooper: He is a governor of a western battleground state – one that is doing well economically and attracting diverse businesses and millennials.

Hickenlooper won re-election in 2014, in a year that saw many prominent Democrats fall at the polls.

Hickenlooper founded the Wynkoop Brewing Company in downtown Denver in 1988.

Other names reportedly under consideration include Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
