Labor Day weekend has come and gone, and now it's back to work.

For everyone out there who's back at the office in body, but not in spirit, we bring you a selection of songs about work from the notoriously labor-averse genres of punk and new wave.

In this segment from the September edition of Air Check, Jeff Bieri speaks with KRCC's punk-in-residence, Bob Slade, about some of his favorite songs about work. You can hear Slade's show, The Retro Fix, every Friday night on KRCC from 8-11pm.

Here are the songs featured:

Devo - "Working in a Coal Mine"

The Clash - "Career Opportunities"

Elvis Costello - "Welcome to the Working Week"

The Specials - "Rat Race"

The Ramones - "Not My Place (In the 9-5 World)"

Tim Curry - "Working on my Tan"
