FAQs About KRCC And Indie 102.3 Music

Why are you putting Indie 102.3 on in Colorado Springs at this time?

We know the world seems upside down right now. And on top of everything else, your regularly scheduled radio programs have been disrupted. In an effort to expand your access to music and give you an alternative to news, Colorado Public Radio and KRCC are broadcasting Indie 102.3 in Colorado Springs on 102.1 fm. Indie 102.3 is a listener supported music discovery station whose mission is to showcase local Colorado musicians.

Is Indie 102.3 replacing music on KRCC?

No.

The loss of local music on KRCC is a temporary response to the stay at home orders and an effort to keep KRCC staff safe, as well as ensure that listeners across the state receive important local news and updates related to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Adding Indie is not a replacement for KRCC music, but rather a music option for the community at this time when musical escape and companionship are important.

Where did music go on KRCC?

To keep KRCC staff safe and away from potential spread of COVID-19, we’ve made the decision to temporarily suspend evening music shows. This will help us keep our hosts and production staff safe while also providing more news coverage for Coloradans across the state, including a second broadcast of Colorado Matters at 8:00 p.m. then time for the BBC World Service with a 7:00 p.m. start on Saturdays and 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.

These changes will ensure listeners across the state will receive important local news and updates related to Coronavirus and the spread of COVID-19.

Will Vicky Gregor now be on indie 102.3?

Vicky is currently observing the stay at home mandate. The current plan is that she will return to KRCC once it is safe to do so.

Where did the news on 102.1 go?

We’ve previously aligned the two schedules of KRCC and CPR, so having news there was redundant. You can hear news on KRCC 91.5.
