- Thousands of pounds of fresh, edible food is thrown away in Colorado Springs every day. The USDA estimates that up to 40 percent of our nation’s food supply is wasted. Meanwhile, one in seven people in Colorado are considered food insecure with a high likelihood of malnutrition and other nutrition-related illnesses.
- Mercy’s Gate is faith based, but faith is not required for Colorado Springs individuals and families who have emergency / urgent financial, physical, emotional or spiritual needs to receive services and support from Mercy’s Gate (www.mercysgatecs.org) This year Mercy’s Gate is taking part in the Empty Stocking Fund.
- The Mission of The Resource Exchange is to build independence for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities….and their remarkable abilities. TRE (www.tre.org) is currently serving nearly 4,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families, through a range of fully customizable service lines.
- Noreen Landis – Tyson is the President and CEO of CPCD (www.cpcdheadstart.org). CPCD is all about giving kids a head start. CPCD provides educational, physical and behavioral health, and nutritional services for children 3 to 5 years of age. There’s also ‘Early Head Start’ which helps pregnant women and children ages birth to 3.
