Radiohead - "Present Tense" - from A Moon Shaped Pool
Ray LaMontagne - "The Changing Man" - from Ouroboros
Chance the Rapper - "All We Got" - from Coloring Book
PART 2: STONEY BERTZ
Stoney Bertz has been making waves in the Colorado Springs music scene since 2011, when she released her first album Fades and Green Stuff on SoundCloud. She’s been on an upward trajectory ever since, releasing a steady stream of excellent records and earning a reputation for her sharp lyricism and infectious flow. In 2015 she won Best Solo Hip-Hop Artist at the Colorado Springs Indy Music Awards. In this segment, Vicky Gregor speaks with Bertz about how she got her start in hip hop, her approach to songwriting, and her latest album, Say Anything.
PART 3: MILLICENT
On an earlier episode of Air Check, we shared a track by Millicent, a synth-pop project of Colorado Springs native Emily Knurr. Millicent has been recording music and playing shows since 2013, but following the release of their EP Deux last Decemeber, they've begun to garner the attention of bloggers, music writers, and fans around the country. In this segment, Emily Knurr and drummer Tyler Cuchiara join us for an in-studio performance and interview.
PART 4: IGGY IGLOO TALKS INDIGENOUS HIP HOP
Here at KRCC we have so many talented DJs with such excellent taste in music, and one of the things we like to do on Air Check is to invite some of these folks in talk about the music they love. In this segment, we have just one of those conversations featuring our very own Iggy Igloo, host of Planet Groove, the Tuesday night world music show on KRCC. Recently, he sat down with Jake Brownell to share a few songs from a genre that is very close to his heart. Here are the songs featured:
