This week on Air check we have a special collection of performances and interviews from local and national talent. Local group Cocordion sits down with Vicky to shares the story of how they came together and discusses their new album, Expectations; Harriett Landrum, aka My Name is Harriett, performs some of her solo work and talks with Jake about her process of building a big sound through looping; And finally, G Love drops by to play a couple songs and chat with Vicky about his illustrious career.

PART TWO: COCORDION TALKS WITH VICKY AND SHARES A COUPLE TUNES FROM THEIR RECENT RIGHT HEEL STUDIO PERFORMANCE

Cocordion is a Colorado Springs-based, 3-piece indie experimental outfit made up of brothers Mitch and Mason Macura, and Thom Spano. We first discovered the band last year following their incredible release, COS (Home= Audio), and have been following them ever since. Their next album, Expectations, comes out later this month.

In this segment, we hear a couple songs that the band recently recorded in an intimate live performance at Right Heel Studios here in Colorado Springs, and Vicky gets the band to talk about their music.

Harriett Landrum is a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, and has performed over the years with the duo the Hopeful Heroines, and more recently, as a solo act under the moniker My Name Is Harriett.

She recently came into the 91.5 KRCC studios to speak with Jake Brownell and perform a few songs, creating a rich tapestry of music with her violin and loop pedals.

My Name Is Harriett will be performing live at a benefit for Just Be Colorado on October 28 at the Antlers hotel in Colorado Springs, and again on November 9 at the Gallery of Contemporary Art. 

PART FOUR:  GARRETT DUTTON DROPS IN TO 91.5 KRCC - YOU KNOW HIM AS G LOVE

Garret Dutton -- aka G Love -- grew up in Philadelphia and has been making music since the age of eight. His debut album G  Love and Special sauce came out in 1994 on the classic Okeh blues label, and melded hip hop styles with traditional blues in a distinctive sound that became a reference point for lots of artists in the years to come. To date, he has released eleven full length studio recordings, and recently toured with Dave Matthews.

In this segment, G Love plays a couple songs and speaks with 91.5 KRCC’s Vicky Gregor during a stop through Colorado Springs on his most recent concert tour.
