Women are making a name for themselves, in industries traditionally dominated by men. From firefighters to mechanics to airline pilots, women are climbing the ranks – meaning these industries aren’t just for the boys anymore. This week on Real Talk with Denver 7 and CPR News we speak with a Lieutenant with the Aurora Fire Department, the city’s first African-American female firefighter, as well as a female Captain with American Airlines. Plus a young woman trying to break into the world of auto repair, and one trans woman who runs her own mechanic’s shop. How they're thriving in their respective industries, and opening the door to other young women wanting to join them.
Real Talk airs on CPR News and KRCC on Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and Mondays at 6:30 p.m. The TV show airs on Denver7 on Saturdays at 5:30 a.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m. It also airs on Local3 on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 6:30 p.m.
