The Mountain West News Bureau is following the case of a transgender inmate serving a nine-year sentence for sexual abuse of child under 16. This inmate is suing the state of Idaho for gender reassignment surgery, and the landmark case is now being considered by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The eventual ruling could affect access to treatment for transgender inmates across the country.
