- The state’s second largest city, Colorado Springs celebrates its sesquicentennial on Saturday, July 31, meaning it was founded 150 years ago. There were already people there, Garden of the Gods for example, was considered a sacred space for Indigenous people. But in 1871, Colorado Springs was born.
