Professional Background:
Francie joined Colorado Public Radio in 2018 as the Social Media Editor. She manages CPR’s news accounts across platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and helps the newsroom experiment with telling stories in new and engaging ways. Francie began her career in journalism 2012, when she started at The Denver Post as an Editorial Assistant ,where she wore dozens of hats — from coordinating the internship program, to writing briefs and blogs, to making sure there was pizza on Election Night. She quickly worked her way up to the online desk, working as a Digital Producer managing breaking news, then to Social Media Producer, overseeing and growing the Post’s institutional accounts. In 2017, she took a brief break from journalism to work as Digital Public Relations Manager at HomeAdvisor. But after a year, she missed working in a newsroom too much. So she came back to the light.
Awards:
Francie was part of the Denver Post team that won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News. In 2015, Francie won second place in the Colorado Press Association Awards for Best Series Column Writing for her piece Preserving my Bubbie’s Holocaust Stories.
